Weekend Adventures

Saturday morning we woke up at the same time we do for school, except we were going on an excursion put on by the university. We walked to campus and got on the bus that was headed to two little towns further into the mountains of Asturias. Pablo and Victor were our leaders for the day, phew. It was a two hour uncomfortable bus ride to Astorga, but I passed out on Sarah and slept for a while. I woke up to the germans singing the tune from the white stripes seven nation arm, I think they must think its still popular or something. We finally arrived in Astorga and were free to walk around for about 2 hours, a group of us walked through the main plaza on our way to the Palace of Gaudi (the same dude who designed the Casa Batllo and Sagrada Familia in Barcelona). We payed to tour around it and looked at the unique architecture of the building for a while.
Sarah and I at the Palace of Gaudi

After the Palace of Gaudi, we meandered over to the museum of chocolate to see how it is made and then we sampled some and of course bought a few bars. We walked through the rest of the town and saw more pretty buildings and cathedrals as we walked back toward the bus.

We then had another 45 minute bus ride to Leon, another cute town in Asturias and I again slept on Sarah which was nice. The first thing we did in Leon was go to a pizza restaurant and get pizzas and beers and enjoy a long lunch with a group of girls. We then headed over to the plaza where the main cathedral was and shopped around in a few shops and got some ice cream. We toured around the cathedral and walked around the local neighborhoods while shopping a little and then getting back to the bus to head home to Oviedo.

The Girls in Leon

We got on the bus to head back to Oviedo and I once again fell asleep on Sarah's shoulder, we got back home and headed back to lay around and relax in the Poveda after a long day.
Sunday was my first day in Oviedo where we actually got to sleep in, after a wonderful nights sleep (besides the screaming spaniards outside our window at 4 am) we woke up and hung out for a while before we headed to the bus station. Sarah and I got ready for the beach and took the bus to Gijon, the town next to Oviedo, where there are some cute beaches. We went to the fine eatery of Mcdonalds and got Mcpollo's and Mcbeer before our adventure at the beach. We laid on the beach and tanned for a couple hours and took turns splashing in the water before heading back to the bus station and going home to Oviedo.

After our day at the beach, we headed home to do homework and relax in our dorm listening to the rain that luckily started right as we got home. We had some food and watched different movies until we fell asleep, ready for school again in the morning.
