Friday night was our Espicha which is a fiesta put on by our university where we take a bus and go to this really nice restaurant and eat unlimited amount of tapas and drink unlimited amount of sidra. Asturias, which is the name of the region where Oviedo is located, love seafood which is rough for me because I do not like to eat things that reek of salt water. Sidra is a traditional spanish cider drink that is really common in Oviedo, and they have to pour it from really high up in the air and catch it in a cup they are holding lower because the more air it has, the better it tastes. Or something like that. They also only give you about a shots worth and youre supposed to drink it quickly. They had these gigantic barrels full of sidra and you hold a cup far away and it shoots out and sprays everywhere while you try to catch some.

Throughout the Espicha, there was a lot of strange folk dancing and mingling with everyone in our program, people who are in a different program but in all of our classes who are from germany, and all of our professors. It was a fun way to start our first weekend here in Oviedo and we all enjoyed ourselves and drank our fair share of sidra and wine/beer that was available at the open bar. The bus took us back to school and we were on our way to more activities for the night.

After the Espicha, we went out dancing downtown for a little bit and then headed home for the night. So far, I love friday's in Oviedo.
