Our first day in Amsterdam started off with going to this pancake place around the corner for the best pancakes I have ever had in my life. Amsterdam is known for having pancakes with your choice of toppings cooked into them and they are delicious. They are like gigantic crepe type things, but they are so very tasty. I had one with ice cream, peaches and chocolate stuff and it was so good, I even embarrassingly took a picture of it to look at it and drool later.

We then started walking around the main streets and squares, getting lost and enjoying the beautiful city we were wrapped up in. After meandering and soaking in the bikes and buildings and canals, we got to the Sex Museum, one of the things on our list that we wanted to see. The museum was full of the history of sex and stories about icons like Marilyn Monroe as well as the first playboy and condom ever. Clearly most of the pictures are inappropriate to post, but I will show you the first condom ever and some of the things I thought were interesting about the museum.

I thought it was funny |
It was interesting to see and afterwards we decided to figure out the tram/bus system to use it for transportation. We hopped on a tram to head toward the Heineken Experience, but there was no explanation or direction for how to pay for using the tram. Everyone who was getting on had this handy card thing that they scanned, but we obviously didnt have one. No one seemed to care that we didnt pay since we used the tram about 19 times and never paid for it. In our defense, we obviously would have paid if we knew how to. We got to the Heineken Experience and got our tickets (there was no line!) and started our tour of how Heineken is brewed. The museum was actually really interesting and had cool effects for telling us how the beer was made, we even watched a 4-D video where we were the beer and the video "brewed us" where we went in the water and the platform we were standing on was waving to feel like we were in water, etc. My favorite part was at the end when we were all "brewed", we were served in a 24 pack at a party and there was a little disco light above us as we watched people "open" us and enjoy drinking us. It was pretty fun. After learning about how the beer was made, which by the way every single Heineken beer is made in Amsterdam and they are shipped across the world so next time you open one of those bad boys, you can think of me in Amsterdam. There was then the tasting bar, the best part. We got three free beers with our entrance fee and we enjoyed them thoroughly. We then hit the gift shop for some cool postcards and souvenirs for our dads and brothers.

What a good time |
After the Heineken Experience, we got back on our apparently complimentary tram ride to go back to our hostel to relax for a while before we headed out for the night. First we stopped in for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, which Sarah was very excited about. We got some fancy yummy cocktails to celebrate. When we got home, we took a brief nap and then when we got up, we went straight to the Red Light District, one of the major attractions of Amsterdam and one of the strangest things Ive seen. We walked up and down the main area of the district and made ourselves stick out like a sore thumb abong the sea of men who were window shopping. We ducked into the red light bar and had a few drinks, one of which tasted like a cherry jolly rancher, and hung out and people watched.

After our tour of the Red Light District, we headed back to our Leidseplein neighborhood for our second round of pancakes for the day, ending how we started off. The staff was very into dancing so I took some entertaining videos of our saturday night in a pancake house in Amsterdam.
After our second round of pancakes, we headed home to get ready for yet another day of exploring this wonderful place known as Amsterdam.
